The York Biomedical Research Institute is a new cross-departmental initiative set up to expand and consolidate York's international expertise in biomedical research within the University. Our research, under the Immunology, Haematology and Infection theme, ranges from fundamental studies on the pathogenesis of infectious and non-infectious disease through to first-in-man clinical research. The Centre for Health Economics is a leading international Centre of Excellence in health economics; home to 50 economists and regularly undertakes analyses for and advises organizations such as NICE, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and the WHO.
