Clinical grading workshop for cutaneous leishmaniasis held in Colombo, Sri Lanka

On 8th and 9th March 2018, organised by the University of Sri Jayawardanapura, Colombo,  Sri Lanka, LeishPathNet held its first clinical grading workshop.

Led by experts in the field, and attended by local consultant dermatologists and collaborators from Brazil, India and the UK, the workshop gave the chance to share expertise on leishmaniasis from different countries and regions, and to standardise approaches to data collection to allow it to align with pathological samples.

Including a clinic visit to a cutaneous leishmaniasis endemic area in a rural setting in Sri Lanka, the workshop highlighted the challenges faced due to the diversity of the disease with different clinical presentations within, and between countries in association with different species.
